Dust Sheets and Protective Covers for Site and Renovation Work

Painting a ceiling without floor protection? You can. But latex paint drops on hardwood after drying don't clean off - the mark stays even after sanding.

Protect before you work. Cheaper than fixing afterwards. Obvious logic, forgotten on every other job.

PE protective film - for covering floors, furniture and equipment during painting, skimming and plastering. 0.03-0.05mm for single-use light protection; 0.1-0.2mm for longer jobs or heavy foot traffic on site.

Slipping is the problem. Thin polyethylene film slides on tiles and hardwood. Fix it: use film with a textured underside or tape the edges down with masking tape.

Tarps (PE or PP tarpaulin) - for covering stored materials outdoors: brick pallets, cement bags, metal profiles. UV-resistant, tear-resistant, waterproof. Density 90-180 g/m² - heavier means stronger.

Nylon film - thin and flexible, for quickly wrapping furniture during moves or renovation.

Standard sizes: 2x3m, 3x4m, 4x6m for normal rooms; 6x10m and larger for full sites.

Use film with a non-slip underside or non-woven fabric (similar to fleece) which grips on smooth floors. Plain PE film can be held in place with masking tape around the edges. Thicker 0.1mm film stays in place better under its own weight on busier sites.

For short-term occasional cover - 90-100 g/m² is enough. For extended storage exposed to wind and rain - 150-180 g/m². Lighter tarps tear in strong wind or from repeated rubbing against the materials they cover.

No. PE or PP tarpaulin has no thermal properties. It keeps rain and wind out but won't stop heat loss or frost. For temporary thermal protection use bubble wrap insulation or thermal blankets.

A UV-stabilised tarp is rated for one full season - roughly 6-8 months of continuous exposure. Without UV treatment degradation starts after 3-4 weeks of direct sunlight. Look for 'UV stabilised' on the label before buying.

Masking tape (blue or green) along the edges - bonds to tiles and hardwood without leaving residue when removed. Thicker 0.1-0.2mm film holds position under its own weight without taping. Avoid standard tape or packing tape - they can pull up floor finishes when removed.
